Belarusian sawmill orders Russian flat cars
Russian freight car manufacturer UWC will deliver a batch of new generation flat cars for the transportation of timber to the Belarusian woodworking company Vitebsk Sawmill. The cars are scheduled to arrive by the end of Q1/2022.
The flat car of the 13-6895 model significantly exceeds its typical analogues with its structural advantages, increased load capacity and increased loading volume of 72.5 t and 158 cbm, which allows to load 30 cbm more timber into the car, the Russian manufacturer said.
With the larger capacity, the company can save on rolling stock while maintaining the same level of throughput: 70 Tikhvin flat cars can ship as much cargo as 100 standard flat cars. (ben)
