Belarus closes border to EU trucks
Belarusian authorities have banned motor vehicles (automobiles and truck tractors) registered in the EU from entering Belarus across the customs border of the Eurasian Economic Union.
Exceptions are made in cases when such motor vehicles are moving via special crossing points to designated areas for freight operations and changing as well as for motor vehicles transporting mail and livestock, the Belarusian ministry said.
Some days before the Belarusian ban, the European Council adopted a fifth package of war sanctions against Russia, which now also prohibits Russian vessels and trucks from entering the EU. Exceptions were made only for oil, gas, food and medicines. (ben)
