Banking on UK business
With an additional 110,000 sqm of warehousing space that came on stream across two new UK sites in October, Geodis aims to enlarge its contract logistics activities in "Europe’s third biggest retail market", as the company said in a press release.
Geodis opened a 40,000 sqm warehouse in Doncaster in the North of England and a 70,000 sqm logistics site in Lutterworth in the East Midlands region. The facilities are equipped with automated technology, 18 m high-density racking and provide a combined capacity for processing up to 1.5 million units per week.
Stéphanie Hervé, COO, Western Europe, Middle East and Africa, will oversee the operations. The group knows that the recruitment process both locally and nationwide will not be easy due to staff shortage. (sh)
