Bang for Bucky
Bucky is Arvato’s latest addition to its robot fleet. The palletising robot is in service at the logistics provider’s site in Venlo, the Netherlands. Off the back of Arvato’s previous implementations of depalletising robots, Bucky has now been launched as a further automation component. It can grip multiple boxes simultaneously and has an hourly processing rate of between 700 and 3,000 cartons.
Bucky integrates different process steps: for the inbound part, it palletises the boxes from loose loaded containers and assigns them their serial numbers. After being packed to a predefined pattern, the pallet is then wrapped and labelled with a pallet number. This relieves employees of having to carry heavy boxes and cuts the time required in the inbound process by around a third.
Now that Bucky has been trialled and implemented in Venlo, Arvato is looking to scale up the solution in its network. (mk)
