Baltic Sea ports set up new cooperation project

Small and medium-sized ports on the southern Baltic Sea coast are working together on a project named South Baltic transport loops.

The main focus will be on the waterside development and expansion of partner ports. Moreover, special attention will be paid to the ports’ respective hinterland connections and their optimisation. The Interreg project is largely being financed by the European Regional Development Fund.

In addition to the lead partner - Mukran Port - in Germany, ports from Denmark, Poland and Sweden are involved in the project. Last week, a meeting of the project participants took place in Karlshamn (Sweden). Project partner meetings will be held regularly and enable, inter alia, the exchange of objectives, studies and achieved results, and deepen relationships between the ports. (kd)
