Balancing traffic flows in Belgium and Spain
Transuniverse, a Belgian freight forwarder specialising in groupage services, has been working on a daily basis with Salvat Logistica since May 2023. The Spanish company operates important traffic flows to and from Belgium and has an extensive nationwide distribution network, while Spain is one of the most important destinations for Transuniverse.
Jo Vormezeele, operations director at Transuniverse: "For years, we had been working with a strong partner in Barcelona serving all the larger economic centres in Spain and with three other smaller partners. While our exports grew steadily in recent years, those partners' exports to Belgium did not increase with them. That growing imbalance made it increasingly difficult to maintain departure frequencies from Belgium."
Traffic operations manager Alexander Bekaert adds: "Shorter delivery times are easier to achieve with one partner covering the whole territory." (ah)
