Balanced results for Auckland ports


The Ports of Auckland reported rising throughput during the first half of its financial year, July till December 2021. While container volumes rose moderately (+1.4%) to 364,000 teu compared to the same period a year ago (359,000 teu), breakbulk volumes including cars for the period went up by 18% to 3,9 million t compared to 3.2 million t. Within that segment, car volumes were 130,000 units compared to 104,000.

 

The improved volumes contributed revenue of NZD 131.6 million (USD 89.3 million) for the six months, up by NZD 17.4 million (USD 11.8 million) from the previous comparative period (NZD 114.2 million/USD 77.5 million). In the same period, while costs increased by NZD 15.7 million due to additional efforts in energy, depreciation and labour, from the impact of Covid 19.

 

Financial results improved, with group net profit after tax increasing to NZD 23.5 million (USD 16 million), an uptick of 72.8% from December 2020 results. (sh)
