Azur wins award
Allianz Zukunft Reifen (Azur) has received the European Transport Award for Sustainability 2024 in the tyres and tyre Peripherals category. Azur’s study on the positive life cycle assessment of retreading was honoured by a jury from the trade magazine Transport.
According to the study funded by the DBU and conducted by the Fraunhofer Institute Umsicht, retreading saves around two thirds of the raw materials, over 60% of CO2 emissions and 50% of energy compared to new tyre production.
Azur network coordinator Christina Guth, who accepted the award in person in Munich, was delighted to have made "an important contribution to the ecological transformation of the transport sector" with the study. Other awards were won by Daimler Truck, Volvo Truck, Iveco Magirus and Scania Germany. (cj)
