Avianca's financial moves
Minneapolis-headquartered global alternative investment firm Castlelake, which set up Castlelake Aviation in September, has completed the sale and leaseback of six A330-200 freight aircraft to Avianca with a ten-year lease term.
Francisco Raddatz, VP of fleet at Avianca: "We value Castlelake's support throughout our restructuring process. This transaction is a testament to the confidence of the market in our business model and future success."
The Colombian carrier, which currently has its legal address in Panama, also announced that it is planning to move its address to UK, but without moving its headquarters to Europe, in order to obtain greater tax benefits after its Chapter 11 bankruptcy process. If approved by the US bankruptcy court, this decision would create a new company called "Avianca Goup International Limited". (ah)
