Automated book distribution in Italy
An Italian book wholesaler is now automating its logistics with the help of TGW Logistics. The partnership will improve order processing and return handling.
At its 80,000 sqm book distribution hub in Stradella, Messaggerie Libri has invested over EUR 40 million in the automation of its processes. The warehouse features a flash-pick system and optimal storage and container design. Ceva Logistics manages the operations at the plant as part of a previous joint venture (C&M Book Logistics).
The company uses 'Pick Centre One' workstations which enable it to switch between order processing and returns handling, minimising error rates and maximising throughput.
"Messaggerie Libri can optimise its order processing by means of this highly automated solution and benefits from faster delivery and increased efficiency,” says Matteo Righini, managing director of TGW Italy. (mk)
