Austrian Ennshafen looks back on a successful 2019

The Austrian Ennshafen on the Danube transhipped a total of 72,000 t on the river in 2019. This result is about 20% higher than the average water/land transhipment volumes over the last ten years, which, among other things, is due to the good water levels.

The Ennshafen’s two largest cargo handling hubs Danubia Speicherei and Fuchshuber Agrarhandel achieved their highest volumes to date. Salt, fertiliser grain and oilseeds saw a particular growth in throughput.

Moreover, in December 2019, Ennshafen exceeded the 16 million t mark in the volume of cargo handled since it was launched as a transhipment hub in 1994. The Container Terminal Enns (CTE) transhipped 395,000 teu last year, an increase of 8% compared to the previous year. (mw)
