Australia: student charged for importing sex abuse material
Australian Border Force (ABF) investigators have charged a Singapore national over the importation of a silicone female child-like sex doll. The man, who is in Australia on a student visa, was arrested one month ago following the execution of a search warrant on a residence in Perth, and may face a maximum penalty of ten years' imprisonment and/or a fine of up to AUD 525,000 (EUR 325,000).
In addition to the importation offences, Australia strengthened the offences for dealing with child-like sex dolls last year.
The investigation commenced on 24 December 2019 after ABF officers x-rayed an intercepted parcel sent from China at a Perth air cargo depot. According to ABF, border officers are seizing increasing numbers of child-like sex dolls being imported through international mail and air cargo streams. (ah)
