Atoun robotic devices for JAL cargo personnel
JAL Ground Service (JGS), a provider of airport ground services in Japan, and Atoun, a company that creates wearable robotic devices, have announced that JGS will purchase and implement innovative gear to support airport personnel. JGS has placed an order for 20 Atoun "Model Y" devices, ten for Haneda airport and ten for Narita airport.
JGS plans to use the powered gear, which mainly supports the lower half of the body, when employees shift baggage from a conveyor belt to containers and when storing baggage in the cargo warehouse. Prior to placing the order, certain JGS staff tested the equipment.
JGS, which is also collaborating with Atoun to create a new product to provide additional support for the arm, is currently weighing up whether to implement the gear at regional airports throughout Japan. (ah)
