Atlas Air: new aircraft for Amazon and Qantas

Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings has entered into an amended and restated air transport services agreement with Amazon.com Services. According to the pact, Atlas Air's wholly owned subsidiary Southern Air will provide CMI services to Amazon using B737-800 series aircraft.

The planes will be leased by Amazon from a third party and subleased to Southern Air. These operations will be for a term of seven years, with an extension option by Amazon for a total term of ten years and for 15 additional B737-800s.

In another move, Atlas Air and Qantas Freight have enhanced their long-standing ACMI relationship, with Atlas Air to operate two B747-8Fs in ACMI service for Qantas on transpacific routes linking Australia and Asia with the USA, as from July 2019. The aircraft will replace two B747-400Fs currently in service for Qantas. (ah)
