Arvato opens facility near Madrid
Arvato has opened the first two units of a new logistics centre totalling around 142,000 sqm in Illescas, around 40 km south of Madrid. There, the supply chain and e-commerce service provider currently handles all logistics and fulfilment services for the online business from the fashion industry in a smaller warehouse.
When the last hall section is handed over, Arvato will have around 135,000 sqm of hall space and 7,000 sqm of office space.
The modern distribution centre is in the "Los Pradillos II" industrial zone in the Madrid metropolitan area, with access to the A-42 freeway linking Madrid with Toledo. "We will create around 1,500 new jobs with this logistics centre," says Emilio Juaranz, managing director of Arvato in Spain. The site will primarily store, pick and distribute fashion items, shoes and accessories. (mk)
