Arranging UK aid flights to Haiti
Air Charter Service (ACS) chartered a Boeing B787-9 to transport 20 t of humanitarian aid donated by the British government for those affected by the devastating earthquake in Haiti. The charter, operated by IAG cargo, flew from London’s Heathrow last Tuesday, 24 August 2021, to Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, arriving on Wednesday morning (UK time)/Tuesday evening (local time).
James Cristofoli, London cargo director at ACS: "The foreign, commonwealth & development office contacted us to arrange the shipment – the cargo includes shelter kits and solar powered lanterns for up to 1,300 families, and we expect to see more such support to follow over the next week or so. Our US offices have already arranged several additional charters with relief in support of the operation." (ah)
