Arkas expands network with India Med service
Arkas Line has launched a new India Med Service (IMS), strengthening links between India, the Mediterranean and the Red Sea.
Partnering with the Parekh Group, the service has been designed to provide optimised transit times between these regions. The option started on 11 February and initially saw four vessels deployed (2,500 - 2,800 teu each). This will be increased to five ships in June.
Arkas Line now serves 27 countries, 72 ports and 33 routes, reinforcing its long-term growth strategy. The company uses rail connections from Mundra and Nhava Sheva to India’s inland trade hubs to facilitate the transportation of goods.
Additionally, Arkas is restructuring its Mediterranean network, merging services into its new Blue Med Service. The goal of the company is to “strengthen its Mediterranean network with a more efficient and comprehensive structure.” (js)
