Arctic hub for Eurasia
Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC) and Rosatom logistics integrator (Rusatom Cargo) have joined forces to construct the Western Transportation and Logistics Hub (Whub).
This infrastructure, based in Belokamenka in the Murmansk Region, will facilitate the Eurasian container transit project, connecting Eastern and Western Eurasia via the Northern Sea Route.
Equipped with deep-water berths, the Whub, will handle 6,000 teu vessels, boasting a 10 million t annual cargo capacity. FEDC aims to support this eco-friendly development and emphasises the importance of such ports for the Northern Sea Route. Rosatom, the route’s infrastructure operator, leads the strategic initiative. (pb)
