ANZL's second Australia-LAX cargo service
From tomorrow, 3 July 2021, and initially until 31 October, Air New Zealand weekly cargo flights between Melbourne (MEL) and Los Angeles (LAX) will be taking off after the airline was awarded the route as part of the Australian government's international freight assistance mechanism (IFAM) programme.
The route, which will be flown for the first time by Air New Zealand, will be in addition to the Brisbane (photo) – Los Angeles services the airline has been offering under the same scheme since August 2020.
General manager cargo Anna Palairet: "This service will help Australian exporters get high-value, time-sensitive perishable exports to global markets and assist with importing nationally important goods to Australia. Over the next four months, the route will open the potential for nearly 1,000 t to be moved between MEL and LAX." (ah)
