Antonov's biggest single piece in 2022
Antonov Airlines, a Ukrainian state-owned company that operates a cargo aircraft fleet including five AN-124-100, recently announced that a power supply skid flown from Tekirdag, Turkey, to Hamburg, Germany, was the biggest single-piece cargo it transported last year.
The e-house, a prefabricated sub-station used as power distribution centre which was required for Germany’s first LNG terminal, was transported in an oversized container (19.00 x 4.24 x 4.01 m), designed by Siemens Energy.
For loading and unloading the e-house on/from the aircraft cargo cabin, the carrier used external cranes and a special loading ramp of Antonov in-house design.
Iris Müllejans, managing partner director of Rolf Riedl, the freight forwarder that cooperated with Antonov for this project: "We thank our customer for their trust in us to perform this challenging project without incident and in-time as well as our partners." (ah)
