Another US short-line railroad changes owner
US transport company OmniTRAX has completed the acquisition of the 101 year-old Winchester & Western Railroad (WW) from Covia. WW is a Class III shortline railroad operating in the US states of Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and New Jersey.
The railroad interchanges with the two class I railroads Norfolk Southern and CSX. The acquisition expands the OmniTRAX-managed short-line portfolio into key new distribution locations in multiple east coast markets.
WW joins Cleveland & Cuyahoga Railway, Cleveland Port Railway, Alabama & Tennessee River Railway) and Fulton County Railway on the list of recent OmniTRAX transactions. (ben)
