Another successful year for Pennsylvania’s railroad
US short line railroad Delaware-Lackawanna Railroad (DL), part of Genesee Valley Transportation, has handled an all-time record for freight carloads for the third time in row. The railroad processed a total of 9,690 carloads in 2019, according to the Pennsylvania northeast regional railroad authority.
Furthermore, DL was successful in administering USD 2.9 million in Pennsylvania department of transportation grants through year-end 2021 on the authority's rail infrastructure.
DL is the rail operator for all authority-owned lines in Lackawanna and Monroe counties and has grown from humble beginnings in the early 1990s to one of the highest performing railroads in northeast Pennsylvania. (ben)
