Another short-sea service in the Mediterranean
Diamond Line, Cosco Shipping Europe's short-sea and feeder carrier, and Tarros Group have announced a new weekly service, PAE, connecting Alexandria, Egypt, and Piraeus, Greece, with Algiers, Algeria, starting in June 2024. The service will use two 1,000 teu vessels, with the “MV Contship Ivy” set to depart from Alexandria on 28 June and arrive in Algiers on 4 July. The new route will, for the first time, directly connect Egypt and Greece to Algeria and vice versa, thus filling a missing link.
This initiative aims to support local businesses and economies in North Africa by providing a direct and reliable service for dry containers and reefers. The rotation of the PAE service is as follows: Alexandria, El Dekheila (ACCHCO, Egypt) – Piraeus (PCT, Greece) – Algiers (Algeria) – Alexandria, El Dekheila (ACCHCO, Egypt). (pb)
