Another locomotive batch for Austrian carrier
Austrian Federal Railways (OeBB) has ordered 61 Vectron MS locomotives from Siemens. With this order, the railway is calling a further option from the framework contract for the delivery of up to 200 Vectron locomotives that was signed in January 2017.
This takes the total number of locomotives ordered to date to 108. The Rail Cargo Group will use the traction for cross-border freight services in several European countries.
The locomotives will be built at Siemens's factory in Munich-Allach (Germany), and deliveries will begin in March 2020. The locomotives will have a maximum output of 6.4 MW, a top speed of 160 km/h, and will be equipped with ETCS. (ben)
