Another Irish lessor taps into freighter business
Right after Avolon's entry into the freighter aircraft segment, Genesis has signed an agreement with Boeing to convert two 737-800 aircraft into freighters. The first aircraft will be ready to enter into service in spring 2022 with the second in early 2023.
This move will allow the Dublin-based aircraft leasing company to take advantage of the rapidly expanding global e-commerce market and thus enhance the value and extend the life of its B737-800 fleet, which cover 24 of its 72 aircraft.
Genesis CEO Karl Griffin: "This new partnership with Boeing will enable Genesis to convert B737-800 aircraft by leveraging our existing portfolio in order to provide solutions to our expanding customer base and serve the growing e-commerce market well into the next decade." (ah)
