Another flight to Namibia

It is rare to see such large visitors at Paderborn Airport (PAD) in northern Germany: at the end of July, six wide-bodied A340 aircraft of the Portuguese airline Hifly flew to Windhoek with only cargo on board.

They carried over 200 t of medical protective equipment, which is urgently needed in view of the rising incidence levels in the Corona pandemic in Namibia.

Roland Hüser, the new PAD managing director: "These relief flights allow us to demonstrate our competence in the cargo sector. Our capacities, our flexibility and our good experience with comparable projects have contributed to the relief flights to Namibia taking off from Paderborn/Lippstadt."

Already at the beginning of July, the AN-225, the world's largest aircraft, had departed from Leipzig for Windhoek with material to combat Covid-19. (cf. ITJ 31-35/2021, p. 13). (ah)
