Another eight blue birds for Prime Air
Sun Country Airlines will fly cargo for Amazon at least until the end of the decade. On 20 June 2024, the two companies extended their existing cooperation contract until 2030, which also includes the option of an extension for a further seven years until 2037.
It was also agreed that the airline will operate up to eight additional Boeing B737-800BCF full freighters for Amazon from the beginning of next year. This will increase the number of full freighters that Sun Country operates for the online giant from twelve to twenty.
The first new aircraft are scheduled to enter service by the end of March next year, and all eight of the additional freighters are planned to be up and flying for Amazon by Q3/2025.
The B737-800BCF freighters that Sun Country flies for Amazon do not sport the carrier’s own house colours, but shine in the blue livery of Prime Air, Amazon’s virtual airline. (dt)
