Another Bavarian hub for GW
Last week’s “Tag der Logistik” coincided with the opening of Gebrüder Weiss’s (GW) newest logistics hub in Straubing, Bavaria.
The EUR 14 million investment follows many previous projects in the Bavarian state during the last five years. The 3,700 sqm location will serve as a new centre for GW’s operations in freight import, forwarding, and distribution. Straubing allows for quick access to markets in Eastern Bavaria, Lower Bavaria, and Upper Palatinate, as well as across the border to Austria and Southeastern Europe.
Despite current uncertainties with regard to prices and subsidies, GW is aiming for a climate-neutral operation of all its facilities and fleets by the end of this decade. With an e-truck stationed at Straubing for short-distance general cargo transport, GW is working towards its sustainability goals. (mk)
