Another airport for Nigeria's agriculture
A few days ago, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, president of the senate of Nigeria, performed the ground breaking ceremony for the Wachakal airstrip located in the Karasuwa local government area of Yobe State. Lawan said the airstrip will provide "aen avenue for business people to evacuate their products" from the area which "is agriculturally oriented". He added that "this airstrip was in existence before and what we are trying to do today is to bring it back to life in a major way, because the runway is going to be extended to take small and medium aircraft."
Mai Mala Buni, Yobe State governor, said that the ceremony showed the commitment of the federal government to carry out the project and put it to use for the benefit of the Yobe people.
A similar project is currently being realised in Ekiti State. (ah)
