An LNG ferry for the Oarai-Tomakomai route
MOL has held a naming and launching ceremony for the LNG-fuelled ferry “Sunflower Pirka”, which will serve the Oarai-Tomakomai route from April 2025. The ferry is part of MOL's efforts to adopt LNG as a low-carbon fuel as part of the company's decarbonisation strategy.
The “Sunflower Pirka” joins the fleet of MOL Sunflower's LNG-fuelled ferries, which includes vessels like the “Sunflower Kurenai” and “Sunflower Murasaki”, thus enhancing Japan's largest ferry service network. (pb)
