An Italo-Hispanic healthcare deal
The Italian Bomi Group is expanding in Europe with special emphasis on the pharmaceutical sector. The takeover of Picking Farma, a Spanish company that has been providing logistics solutions to companies in the pharmaceutical, veterinary and cosmetics sectors for 20 years, is a further step in this direction.
Picking Farma, a family business founded in 1998 in Barcelona, has five strategically located facilities - four in Catalonia and one in the Canary Islands - with a total of 52,000 sqm of temperature-controlled warehouses, 118,000 pallet spaces in GDP +15º to +25ºC conditions and 3,000 spaces for pallet storage at +2 to +8°C as well as a pharmaceutical factory supply centre authorised by AEMPS (Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products) including pharmaceutical product repackaging (secondary packaging).
This operation will allow the Bomi Group to become a major healthcare logistics operator in Spain, less than a year after entering the Spanish market with an acquisition in the Madrid area. (sh)
