An intelligent approach to warehousing
Arvato and Microsoft have been working together on an AI-based research project aiming to facilitate autonomous warehousing. Dubbed “Moonshot”, the project will be showcased at the Gartner Supply Chain Symposium/Xpo in Barcelona.
By examining and analysing warehouse processes, the two companies have sought to identify points of improvement for automation in the industry. The aim is to create self-improving processes using AI, which could potentially handle the warehouse layout for new orders with given requirements.
Practical applications of the project can already be demonstrated. Arvato has witnessed multiple use cases - from order picking and route optimisation to the interpretation of carrier responses in transport complaints. The project can be viewed from 10 to 12 June at the Barcelona Convention Centre, where the companies will be presenting their findings. (mk)
