An honour for MOL's chairman
Junichiro Ikeda (second from right), chairman of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), has been appointed honorary consul of the Republic of Mauritius in Tokyo.
Maneesh Gobin, attorney general, minister of foreign affairs, regional integration and international trade (left), conferred the letter of commission to the new honorary consul on 4 September 2023 at the prime minister’s office in Mauritius’ capital Port Louis, in the presence of prime minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth (second from left) and Shuichiro Kawaguchi, Japan’s ambassador to Mauritius (right).
MOL supports the people and environment of Mauritius in the wake of the grounding incident involving its chartered vessel “Wakashi” in southeast Mauritius in 2020. It has established the MOL Charitable Trust and the authorised public trust “MOL Mauritius Intl Fund” for sustainability ande recovery of the natural environment. (cj)
