An excellent year for Liège airport
Liège airport had an excellent year in 2024, with total throughput coming to lose to 1,2 million t. In terms of movements, the trend was also upward, with 37,029 aircraft movements recorded in 2024, compared to 33,652 movements in 2023. The vast majority of these concerned cargo aircraft.
December confirmed the upward trend in volumes. For the full year, 1,162,899 t passed through Liege airport, to be precise, an increase of 16% compared to the 1,005,676 t handled in 2023. This is the airport’s second-best performance in its history. In each of the last five years the airport handled more than 1 million t.
In 2024 Liège airport began implementing its strategy as a provider of multimodal logistics solutions, notably acquiring a stake in LLI (Novandi Group), the manager of the railfreight hub adjacent to the airport. In mid-2024 Liège airport also inaugurated its new 6,000 m2 office building, L’Escale, further developing its real-estate strategy. (cj)
