An efficient shunting service on equal terms
With the automatic shunting facility at the Antwerp-North marshalling yard in the Port of Antwerp-Bruges (PoAB), freight trains can be assembled up to six times faster - but the facility is sometimes underutilised. PoAB, Railport Antwerp, the freight carrier Lineas and the infrastructure manager Infrabel have now joined forces to open up this option to all operators.
Since 1 April, neutral operation of the rail facility is available to all rail operators on equal terms - for the first time in the history of European railroads, as PoAB points out.
Lineas is committed to providing shunting services to all at market-based, transparent prices and conditions. This activity will be followed up by Infrabel in collaboration with PoAB. The prices demanded for shunting services are controlled by the rail regulator. (lh)
