Amazon joins German Transport Forum
The e-commerce giant Amazon has just joined the German Transport Forum (DVF). The association’s managing director, Heike van Hoorn, observed: "With Amazon Germany as a member we have gained a player with innovative strength for the online trade and logistics sector.
Thanks to its close integration of retail, internet activities and logistics services, Amazon contributes important know-how to our think tank. Innovative concepts are urgently needed, particularly in the urban delivery sector."
Amazon has invested in excess of EUR 10 billion in infrastructure and facilities in Germany since 2010, and had more than 18,000 permanent employees on its payroll in 2018. There are currently twelve Amazon logistics centres in Germany. (mw)
