Amadeus adds future-fuel ready ship to fleet
Amadeus Schiffahrts- und Speditions GmbH, a subsidiary of HGK Shipping, expanded its charter fleet in autumn 2024. The new river-sea vessel "Amadeus Saffier” was designed to meet the demands of the energy transition and reduce CO2 emissions in the transport sector.
Equipped with a diesel-electric "future-fuel-ready" engine and Ventofoils, which harness wind power, the ship can be adapted to more sustainable energy sources. Its design allows for up to 50% reduced emissions and up to 30% higher energy efficiency.
Operated under a long-term charter agreement with the shipping company De Bock Maritiem, "Amadeus Saffier" transports bulk and break-bulk cargo in the North and Baltic Seas, as well as the Mediterranean and Black Sea regions, and can also be used on rivers like the Rhine. (pb)
