Alstom Traxx for Slovenia

Alstom has signed a contract with SŽ Tovorni promet (Slovenian Railways freight division) to supply 30 Traxx universal multi-system electric locomotives.

Valued at approximately EUR 150 million, the locomotives will operate in Slovenia, Germany, Austria, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia and Serbia. The units are designed to support cross-border freight transport and for heavy-haul operations, complementing the existing Slovenian Railways fleet.

The Traxx Universal platform offers modular flexibility and compatibility with various freight and passenger services, available in AC, DC and multi-system configurations. Alstom has delivered over 6,000 locomotives globally and currently maintains more than 2,450 units, including around 600 Traxx locomotives. Alstom says it has supplied 70% of ERTMS-equipped trains in Europe. (js)
