Alstom chooses Kanat Alpysbayev
Alstom has appointed Kanat Alpysbayev as managing director of the company's Western & Central Asia cluster. He joins Alstom from Kazpost, Kazakhstan's national postal service, where he was chairman of the board. Alpysbayev also served as managing director for logistics and international cooperation at Samruk-Kazyna, National Welfare Fund.
Previous roles included CEO and chairman of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (the country's national railways) and other leadership positions in Air Astana and General Electric.
Alpysbayev earned an executive master of business administration from the University of California Los Angeles and the National University of Singapore.
Alstom in Western & Central Asia employs over 1,000 people and has three offices (Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan), five depots, two plants and a repair centre. (cj)
