Almost 70 t of salmon in the belly
Qatar Airways Cargo recently performed the record breaking uplift of more than 68,944 kg on a single lower deck B777 passenger flight, flying from Oslo to Doha. The Middle Eastern carrier transported over 46,000 t of Norwegian seafood in 2021, the highest result yet.
Rob Veltman, VP cargo Europe at Qatar Airways: "By introducing passenger freighters to the Norwegian seafood market, including Harstad-Narvik Airport in Evenes and Bodø Airport in Northern Norway, we significantly increased its capacity to supply the market in 2021 when it was needed the most."
With seven Qatar Airways PAX flights and six B777F services weekly, the Oslo-Doha cargo capacity is well stocked. 95% of all perishable seafood on board the airline's flights out of Scandinavia, promoted by ECS Group member Nordic GSA, is salmon. (ah)
