Algeciras and Tanger Med keep the Straits open
In times of Covid-19, the ports of Algeciras and Tanger Med are both keeping the Strait maritime link active for trucks and semi-trailers with the same level of service as before the pandemic.
Both container terminals APM Terminals Algeciras and TTI Algeciras are fully operational as well as the railway facilities and the ro-ro traffic for goods, including agro-industrial, agrifood and sanitary product flows amongst others. The maritime connection with the port of Ceuta is also working. Logistics chains in the port communities, as well as customs and inspection agencies in Spain and Morocco keep the straits platform open and running.
To guarantee the proper functioning of this maritime bridge, executives of the port authorities of Algeciras and Tangier Med regularly exchange information and hold regular meetings by videoconference, measures that were included in the advanced collaboration agreement signed in February last year.
