Albania to rehabilitate over 120 km rail line
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the EU are scaling up their support for Albania’s railways with a EUR 98.75 million loan. This will allow Albania to rehabilitate and to electrify the Vore-Hani i Hotit railway line.
The line is over 120 km long and connects Vore in central Albania to Hani i Hotit on the border with Montenegro. It is part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) and Albania’s only railway connection with its neighbouring countries.
The project marks the EBRD’s second railway investment in Albania following a EUR 36.9 million loan for the Tirana-Durres section, which is currently under construction. (ben)
