Airfreight at Frankfurt airport
Frankfurt airport’s operator is working with DHL to build an airfreight centre at the international airport. Construction has already begun on a 55,000 sqm property at Cargo City South. DHL will use the facility to handle airfreight for both German and international customers. The forwarder will also manage charter flights with its Star Broker service and offer a transshipment space on this site.
“This building will meet the strictest ecological and economic requirements for modern freight handling facilities. As such, it will put our future tenant DHL Global Forwarding in the best position to take its airfreight business to the next level,” says Anke Giesen, executive director retail and real estate at Fraport.
The building will provide 24,500 sqm of new hall space and 3,000 sqm of flexible office/social space. Completion is scheduled for mid-2025. (mk)
