Air Tanzania returns to Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe is currently facing pressing foreign currency shortages and airlines operating in the country are failing to repatriate more than USD 140 million that is stuck there. Given this scenario, carriers such as Proflight Zambia and Rwandair are suspending their services. In contrast, Air Tanzania is resuming its service to Harare as from today (22 February 2019).
A220-300 operate the thrice weekly Dar es Salaam - Harare - Lusaka - Dar es Salaam route. Air Zimbabwe and Fastjet already link the capital of Zimbabwe with the East African coastal city which has become popular with Zimbabweans as they go there to collect shipments of second-hand vehicles, mostly imported from Japan.
