Air France to ban transport of monkeys
Following more than a decade of intense campaigning by Peta USA, international Peta entities, other animal protection groups, and grassroots activists around the world, Air France has announced that it will end its transport of monkeys to laboratories as soon as its current contracts end.
Air France is the latest large commercial airline to join the list of airlines that have stopped transporting terrified monkeys. Thanks to the efforts of Peta USA, other animal protection organisations, and their supporters around the globe, every major passenger airline in the world has stopped transporting monkeys to laboratories.
However, some smaller companies still do. Egyptair has reportedly flown as many as 5,000 monkeys into New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport since March 2022. (cj)
