Air Baltic uses all A220 capacities
After a request from the national health service of the Republic of Latvia this weekend (28 and 29 March 2020), Air Baltic performed a special cargo flight to and from Ürümqi in China, bringing 900,000 face masks and 80,000 respirators made in Zhengzhou and Yiwu regions to Latvia.
The total time the A220-300 took to cover the 4,815 km route was 5 hours 46 minutes in the eastern, but 6 hours 35 minutes in the western direction. Overall, 619 boxes, 5.1 t or 47 cbm of humanitarian freight were carried, even making use of the passenger cabin, which has a length of 27.5 m and a width of 3.28 m. Three pilots and two technicians were on board the aircraft to perform the flight.
According to the aircraft manufacturer Airbus, the A220-300 has a range of 6,204 km, and its cargo hold has a capacity of 31.6 cbm. (ah)
