Air Austral's third cargo-only flight in February
French airline Air Austral has agreed with the authorities to carry out five more cargo-only flights this month. On the three roundtrips between Paris and La Réunion and on two flights between Paris and Mayotte, a freight-friendly B777-300ER will be deployed, of which only the underfloor cargo hold may be used.
On the flights to La Réunion, the second of which takes place today, 18 February 2021, around 15 t freight can be shipped, to Mayotte it is nearly 30 t.
In December, Air Austral, whose favourite destinations are airports around the Indian Ocean, already carried out five such flights on the Paris-Marseille-Réunion-Mayotte rotation. "We decided out of solidarity to contribute our share to the collective effort and support cargo transport," Air Austral said. (ah)
