After Rotterdam, it's Hamburg
Singapore-headquartered Ocean Network Express is opening a dedicated container depot in the Port of Hamburg in partnership with Universal Container Services (UCS), following the companies' joint activities at their dedicated ONE depot in Rotterdam, which came on stream in 2019.
Johan Pijpers of ONE (Europe) commented, “Depot yard space in most European and African ports is being reduced and for that reason our strategy is to start long term partnerships with our most valued suppliers where we see opportunities.
The ONE depot, complete with an onsite repair shop, has a storage capacity of 4,000 teu including 25 reefer plugs over an area of 60,000 sqm. There are three reach stackers and three empty handlers in operation, which ensures a fast turnaround of equipment. The depot also has automated gates and real time EDI connections. (cd)
