African air spaces (not) re-opened

After a break of exactly five months, international flights to Malawi were permitted to resume operations on 1 September, whereby initially only the airport of Lilongwe (photo), the capital of the landlocked country in southeast Africa will be handling the traffic. The airport is served by flag carrier  Malawian Airlines as well as Ethiopian Airlines, Kenya Airways, Proflight Air Services and South African Airways.

Meantime, the opening of Nigeria's international air space has been postponed at short notice. Instead of 29 August, as originally announced, international air flights will be able to resume exactly a week later, on 5 September 2020. (ah)
