Africa receives first heavy e-truck
The use of heavy electric trucks is spreading across the world. With Europe and USA among the leaders, the shift to more sustainable transport is also kicking off on other continents.
The first heavy electric truck – supplied by Volvo Trucks - has now been put into service in Africa. The series-produced, zero-exhaust emission truck will be used for collecting waste by the company Arma in Rabat (Morocco). By replacing the existing Volvo FE diesel truck with a Volvo FE electric on a typical route, 30 t of CO2 may be saved every year.
Volvo is the first global brand with heavy electric trucks in commercial operation in Africa, the Swedish manufacturer says. (ben)
